About the School MissionAcademy of Massage & Bodywork, Inc. is a private, professional school with its primary objective being the training of career-oriented students to obtain certification from a state-licensed facility which is dedicated to the art and science of massage therapy, as well as educating the public on the health benefits massage therapy provides. Commitment to ExcellenceAcademy of Massage & Bodywork, Inc. is committed to advancing the art and science of therapeutic massage and associated bodywork modalities. We are committed to promoting alternative health care, and training professional therapists in therapeutic massage, ethics, business, personal development, and continuing education units, as well as providing an ABMP (Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals) approved curriculum. The AMB AdvantageAMB ensures that class sizes will be small, with a student-to-instructor ratio <= 10:1. This provides highly individualized attention and instruction for all students. Modality classes may have a higher ratio, as they are also open to the public and continuing education students. AMB students have the opportunity to work as student interns in professional office settings as part of their required practice hours, enabling them to gain valuable hands-on real-world experience as massage therapists. As of January 2009, Massage Therapy is a licensed occupation in Michigan. AMB provides a curriculum which qualifies graduating students to sit for the National Certification Exam. AMB students know that their education meets the same high standards as elsewhere in the nation.
