School Policies

Attendance

Because the course has such a small number of in-class hours, every massage therapy class must be attended.   If for some reason the student needs to miss a class, arrangements must be made (at the convenience of the instructor) to make up the class that was missed.   All of the instructors charge individual fees for their time, and the cost to make up a class will be at their discretion and payment will be made directly to the instructor.

A student can miss no more than two (2) classes in any given term.   The third (3) absence will result in the dismissal of the student with no refund in tuition monies or fees.   If absence is a result of illness, with a doctor’s note and the Director’s approval, a student may have the opportunity to complete the course the next semester by attending those missed classes and taking the final test at no additional charge.   A Certificate of Completion in the AMB Massage Therapy Program will be granted and the title of "Massage Therapist" will be given after a student has fully completed the course.

All family leave absences must be discussed with and approved by the Director on a case-by-case basis.   No tuition monies will be refunded nor will tuition be pro-rated; in most cases the student will be allowed to finish their term at a later date.   Payments must still be made per the student contract.

If a student is more than fifteen (15) minutes late for a class it will count as a tardy.   Being late for class three (3) times will equal one (1) absence.   If a student is late for class they may sign in and then see the instructor after class for missed information.   If you are going to be late for a class, you must phone the school.   If there is going to be an ongoing situation that will cause a student to be late for class on a regular basis, like travel time from work, please see the school Director at the time of registration.

If a student is dismissed by one of the staff or the student drops out after the first two (2) classes, full tuition is due as per the payment arrangements made by the student and the Director per the student contract.   No tuition monies will be refunded nor will tuition be pro-rated after the second week of class.   Interest and late payments will continue to be applied until the student's account is paid in full.

Inclement Weather Policy

All students will receive a phone call when school is closed due to weather conditions.   Students must have a phone where they can receive messages.   If in doubt, please call the school.   A message will be left on the machine.

Withdrawal and Termination

In the event of a withdrawal by the student or termination by the Academy, the Academy will retain the application fee and registration fee.   If the withdrawal or termination is after the second week of class, all tuition monies will still be due to the Academy.   The Academy must be notified, verbally and preferably in writing of any intent to withdraw.

The date the Academy receives written notification of the students’ intent to withdraw will be the date used as the de-enrollment date.   In cases of verbal withdrawal the student has 15 days to change their mind and make arrangements to complete their course of study.   The de-enrollment date in this case will be 15 days from contact.

If a student does not withdraw in writing and submit to the Director, it will be assumed that the student has withdrawn from the program.   Failure to attend classes and or clinical hours in a 15 day consecutive period signifies students withdraw.   Not more than 2 classes can be missed.

Termination/Dismissal may result from financial issues and/or other behavior more clearly defined in the Students Rights, Responsibilities & Conduct section of this catalog.   Students will receive a letter of probation stating the issue(s) that could lead to dismissal.   The letter will state the length of the probation, which is usually fifteen (15) days, to improve and/or resolve the issue(s).   The student will be terminated /dismissed if the issue(s) are not resolved in the specified length of time.
